We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diamond Setter to join a luxury jewellers in London. The Diamond Setter will be responsible for setting precious gemstones, primarily diamonds, in various jewellery pieces, ensuring precision, quality, and aesthetics. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, exceptional craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of jewellery design and production.
Responsibilities:- Gemstone Setting: Set diamonds and other precious stones in a variety of jewellery pieces, including rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, using different setting techniques, such as prong, bezel, pave, and channel settings.
- Quality Control: Inspect stones, settings, and final pieces to ensure they meet our quality standards, including tight tolerances and secure settings.
- Soldering: Perform soldering and welding work as needed to assemble jewellery pieces and make necessary adjustments.
- Stone Selection: Assist in the selection of high-quality diamonds and gemstones, considering factors such as clarity, cut, colour, and carat weight.
- Repairs and Resizing: Conduct repairs, resizing, and restoration work on jewellery pieces, as required.
- Collaboration: Work closely with designers and other team members to ensure the final jewellery pieces match the intended design and vision.
- Maintain Tools and Equipment: Properly care for and maintain all tools and equipment related to diamond setting.
- Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines when handling gemstones, precious metals, and machinery.
- Documentation: Keep detailed records of all work completed, including stone specifications, repairs, and any customisations.
Qualifications:- Proven experience as a Diamond Setter in a professional jewellery setting, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Extensive knowledge of various setting techniques, including prong, bezel, pave, and channel settings.
- Proficiency in soldering and welding for jewellery assembly and repairs.
- Strong eye for detail and excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Deep understanding of gemstone characteristics, including diamonds, and the ability to select and match stones effectively.
- Knowledge of jewellery design and the ability to follow design specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with precision.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and guidelines in handling precious materials and equipment.
