Senior Merchandise Planner

We are seeking an experienced Senior Merchandise Planner to join the Head Office team of a highly respected luxury jewellery company.
This is a commercially focused role that will see you working closely with multiple departments to ensure the right products are available at the right time, supporting business growth while maintaining healthy inventory levels. Combining analytical expertise with strategic planning, you will play an integral role in forecasting demand, managing stock investment and driving operational efficiency across the business.

Key Responsibilities
Merchandise Planning & Demand Forecasting
- Produce accurate sales and demand forecasts using historical performance, commercial insight and market trends.
- Develop inventory plans to support both core collections and new product launches.
- Analyse sales performance, stock levels and product demand to identify opportunities and potential risks.
- Prepare regular reports covering sales performance, inventory, supplier commitments and product availability.
- Monitor planning performance and recommend improvements to maximise product availability and minimise excess stock.
- Maintain the accuracy of planning data, reporting and product information.
- Continuously review forecasting techniques and planning processes to improve business performance.
Inventory & Supply Planning
- Develop inventory strategies that balance product availability with effective stock investment.
- Work closely with sourcing, production and supplier partners to ensure products are delivered in line with business requirements.
- Support production planning by coordinating supplier allocations based on capacity, lead times and operational priorities.
- Monitor supplier performance and production schedules, resolving issues proactively to minimise disruption.
- Identify supply risks and recommend practical solutions to maintain business continuity.
Business Partnership
- Build strong working relationships across Buying, Production, Sales, Logistics and Finance to ensure inventory plans align with commercial objectives.
- Support product launches, seasonal initiatives and key commercial projects through effective planning and coordination.
- Present analytical findings and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements and planning initiatives across the business.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical ability together with excellent commercial awareness and organisational skills.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience within Merchandise Planning, Demand Planning, Supply Chain Planning or Inventory Planning.
- Experience gained within luxury retail, jewellery or another premium consumer goods environment would be advantageous.
- Strong experience of forecasting, inventory management and stock planning.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and identify commercial trends.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query and complex reporting.
- Experience using business intelligence or reporting tools such as Power BI would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced commercial environment.
- A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach with exceptional attention to detail.
