Fantastic Graff Diamonds Boutique!

Graff diamonds unveiled a new boutique in the Harods Fine Jewellery Room this month.

Graff is the sixth and final brand to open a dedicated space in the newly extended Fine Jewellery Room, located alongside the world's most prestigious jewellers, including Cartier, Chopard and Boucheron.

A striking gold exterior is complemented by striped marble floors and decadent wall panels clad in rich, opulent colours. The boutique is illuminated by a highly elaborate Bohemia crystal chandelier, consisting of hundreds of perfect circles of coloured glass. Visitors are invited to sit at leather desks to peruse Graff's one-off jewels, exclusive collections and luxurious timepieces.

Alongside Bond Street and Sloane Street, the Harrods boutique is Graff's third store in London.

FABERGÉ AND HARRODS THIS EASTER!

World famous department store Harrods, have collaborated with prestigious jeweller Fabergé, this Easter. 'Fabergé Easter' involves a Fabergé salon and exhibition space set up in Harrods, with the famed famous stores exterior windows, dressed in Fabergé flags, telling the story of the legendary jewellery house. 'A Fabergé Easter at Harrods' will run from 1st to 21st April 2014.

The collaboration will celebrate the art of gifting, which is at the heart of both prestigious names. The window displays will showcase the fascinating world of Fabergé from its famed Imperial Easter Eggs and glittering Royal clientele, to today’s contemporary jewellery creations..

An exciting Fabergé 'Egg Bar' will offer customers an opportunity to discover the iconic egg pendants, while a bespoke in-store engraving service will allow clients to personalise precious gold egg pendants with a special message of their choice.

To celebrate the extravaganza, Fabergé has created a limited-edition Spiral Tassel Pendant, available exclusively at Harrods from 1st April 2014.

Samsung Galaxy Gear Wristwatch!

The Samsung Galaxy Gear is the latest, highly publicised, wearable smartwatch scene and Samsung’s most recent effort at a wearable gadget.

By working in perfect harmony with the Galaxy Note 3, thanks to a piece of technology called Smart Relay, the Galaxy Gear allows you to get the benefits of the Note 3 without ever having to take it out of your pocket.

This new innovation and next generation of wristwatches offers wearers the ability to make calls hands free , take pictures via S Voice and capture photos and video thanks to a camera built into the strap, to accessing your apps on your wrist.

Other nifty features include the Auto Lock, that locks your Galaxy Note 3 when you move more than 1.5 metres from it. This watch also has a pedometer which calculates how many steps you have taken!
Although compact, the 1.63 inch screen appears clear and detailed and has a 320 x 320 pixel resolution.

Novelty or here to stay, this will remain to be seen, this gadget does have some cool features and includes a 1.63-inch touchscreen display; 1.9-megapixel camera and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity to smartphones and allows you to Receive calls and texts to your wrists. October Birthstone - Opal

Opal is the birthstone for October.  It is a hardened silica gel, usually containing 5-10% water.  It is therefore non-crystalline which is unlike most other gemstones.  This means that it may eventually dry out and crack.  There are two varieties; Precious Opal which shows iridescence depending on the angle it is viewed and there is Common Opal (or Potch Opal) which is usually opaque and displays no iridescence.

The iridescence we see in Precious Opal is due to the regular alignment of tiny silica spheres diffracting light,  the larger the spheres the greater the range of colours we see!

Although opal is found throughout the world, almost all of that opal is common opal of very little value. Most of the precious opal deposits that have been discovered are in Australia. The mines of Australia produce at least 90% of the world's precious opal. 

Famous mining areas include Australia, United States, Mexico, Hungary, Indonesia, Brazil, Peru, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Ethiopia.
